Donations to Benefit Local Homeless Outreach Ministries

Daphne, AL (April 7, 2016) – Hundreds of people in Baldwin and Mobile Counties recently donated gently used shoes to Baldwin Bone & Joint’s Many More Miles Campaign, resulting in 1,899 pairs of shoes finding new life.

Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C., Mobile and Baldwin County YMCA branches, the Port City Pacers, McCoy Outdoor Co., Dr. Glenn Glass, and the USA Student Recreation Center partnered to collect shoes for the homeless outreach programs of Wings of Life and Discovery Ministries. The campaign, now in its 13th year, got off to a running start in January and concluded at the Azalea Trail Run held on March 19th.

Students in Mobile and Baldwin Counties were also given the opportunity to collect shoes and earn money for their schools’ PE programs. Dixon Elementary won first place, collecting 804 pairs of shoes and received a $300 prize. Fairhope Intermediate took second place, and Spanish Fort Elementary received third prize.

Used running shoes may be donated year-round at McCoy Outdoor Co. on Springhill Avenue in Mobile.

DAPHNE, Ala.  (April 4, 2016) –  Dr. John L. Todd, Medical Director for The Shoulder Center (TSC) and orthopaedic surgeon, will discuss the common causes and solutions for aching shoulders at the “Oh My Aching Shoulder: Understanding Common Causes and Solutions” event on April 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Baldwin Bone and Joint (BB&J) in Daphne.

This community education seminar is developed especially for those seeking solutions to issues of the shoulder. The shoulder is the one of the most mobile and problematic joints of the body, and common symptoms of shoulder problems include pain, weakness and loss of motion that can interfere with activities of daily living, work and recreation. Todd, shoulder specialist, will discuss common causes for this and what options are available at TSC including non-operative and operative care.

The Shoulder Center, the latest in specialty care to be offered by Baldwin Bone & Joint, takes a comprehensive approach to the care of shoulder conditions. Dr. John Todd and the TSC staff are trained and equipped to see patients with shoulder problems through every step of the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery process. The primary goal of TSC is to return each patient back to his or her lifestyle, and the activity level he or she enjoyed before, as quickly as possible.

This specialized practice focuses primarily on non-operative and operative care of the shoulder and will allow new patients to schedule appointments for specialty shoulder care faster. Office locations are in Daphne and Orange Beach, AL.

Giving New Life to Old Shoes for Those in Need

Daphne, AL (12/29/15) – You may have put a lot of miles on your old running shoes, but when you donate them to the “Many More Miles” campaign, your shoes will land on the feet of someone who really needs them.

For the 13th consecutive year, Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C. will once again host this important community project, partnering with Mobile and Baldwin County YMCA branches, the Port City Pacers, USA Student Recreation Center and McCoy Outdoor Company to collect shoes for the homeless outreach programs of Wings of Life and Discovery Ministries. Response to the campaign has grown since its inception from 200 pairs donated in 2003 to just over 2700 pairs contributed in 2015. With the kickoff beginning early January each year, donations for 2016 are now being accepted with final shoe drop-offs received at the 2016 Azalea Trail Run on March 19.

Mobile and Baldwin County elementary students will also once again have the opportunity to collect shoes and earn money for their schools’ P.E. programs. Baldwin Bone & Joint will award cash prizes to the individual P.E. programs for the top three schools donating the most shoes.

So clean up those gently used athletic shoes, tie them together in pairs and drop them off at any of the following locations:

Thanks to an overwhelming response to the 2015 program, 2,729 pairs of shoes will land on the feet of people who really need them. The 2014 campaign yielded 1355 pairs of shoes.

Daphne, AL (December 23, 2014) – Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C is gearing up now to provide sports physical examinations to over 500 Middle and High School athletes in Baldwin County on Saturday, January 10th from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The following schedule is setup for athletes:

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.:      Daphne High School
9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.:    Daphne Middle School
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.:  Baldwin County High School
11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.:  Baldwin County Middle School
11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.:  Open to all other schools, including middle & high school athletes 

This service, provided annually for all student athletes (not limited to Baldwin County), will be held at their Daphne office located at 1505 Daphne Avenue (Hwy 64 – corner of Daphne Avenue and Pollard Road).
