Daphne, AL (Oct. 6, 2020) — Baldwin Bone & Joint is pleased to announce that Teri Carroll has joined Workers’ Compensation team member, Helen Wright, as co-coordinator.

Carroll has attained a wealth of knowledge in the health care industry, earning years of experience as a worker’s compensation specialist and team leader in the orthopaedic practice arena.

Carroll adds to the talents of Baldwin Bone & Joint’s existing workers’ compensation team, with fellow co-coordinator Helen Wright, and now boasts over 50 years of combined experience dealing with new patient information, medical records, appointments and authorizations for surgeries and diagnostic testing.

“I am excited for the opportunity to share my experience with the workers’ compensation team at Baldwin Bone & Joint and look forward to working alongside our physicians as we strive to ensure that patients get well and back on the job as soon and safely as possible,” Carroll said.

Daphne, AL (September 11, 2020) — Daphne, Al-based, Baldwin Bone & Joint is excited to announce the opening of its new Osteo Health Clinic, a comprehensive, patient-centered care facility to help clients develop and maintain optimal bone health. Under the leadership of Clinic Coordinator Holly Scott, CRNP, the Osteo Health Clinic specializes in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and other related bone conditions.

“Osteoporosis is a big issue for a lot of people, especially women over 50 and post-menopausal women,” Scott said. “Nearly half of all women in those groups are likely to have a broken bone or other bone issues due to osteoporosis and 25 percent of men over 50 will likely have the same problems.

Our goal is to be proactive advocates for our patients by utilizing our skills and knowledge to lower their risks for bone loss, fractures, and other health issues. We provide each patient with a personalized treatment plan and preventive care to put them on the path to better bone health, ultimately keeping them in the game of a healthy and active life.”

Local Students Greatest Contributors for Homeless Outreach Ministries

Daphne, AL (September 8, 2020) – Hundreds of Mobile and Baldwin County residents – primarily students and teachers – recently donated gently used shoes to Baldwin Bone & Joint’s 17th Annual Many More Miles Campaign, resulting in 1,586 pairs of shoes finding new life.

Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C., the Port City Pacers, Dr. Glenn Glass, the University of South Alabama Student Recreation Center, and Mobile and Baldwin County schools partnered to collect shoes for the homeless outreach programs of Wings of Life and Family Promise of Baldwin County. The campaign, now in its 17th year, got off to a running start in January and concluded on March 24th.

Mobile and Baldwin County students were challenged to collect shoes for homeless families in the area while earning money for their schools’ P.E. programs. Baldwin Bone & Joint awards cash prizes to the top three participating schools who donate the most shoes. Fairhope East Elementary (formerly Fairhope Intermediate) won first place, collecting 1,006 pairs of shoes and received a $500 cash prize. Mary B. Austin Elementary took second place ($300), and Spanish Fort Elementary received third prize ($200).

Over the years, shoes donated by the local schools have provided the largest collective donation to this important campaign. Other schools participating in this year’s campaign included: Spanish Fort Elementary (BC), Mary B. Austin Elementary (MC), & Dixon Elementary (MC)

DAPHNE, ALA. (July 30, 2020) — Baldwin Bone & Joint in Daphne is proud to announce the addition of Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Kaleigh Hornberger to the staff. Hornberger will join the team at The Shoulder Center at Baldwin Bone & Joint, working alongside Medical Director, Dr. John Todd.

Hornberger has practiced as a registered nurse (RN) since 2014. She served with distinction as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps while attending school full-time to pursue her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of South Alabama. She also earned a Master of Science in nursing for Dual Role Nurse Practitioner (FNP/AGACNP) from the University of South Alabama and was selected for a Sigma Theta Tau appointment for Leadership and GPA in graduate school. Hornberger’s professional focus has been in adult gerontological acute care and operating room safety procedures. She also has earned Critical Care Unit Certification and additional certifications in basic life support and advance cardiac life support.

DAPHNE, ALA. (July 23, 2020) —The Spine Institute at Baldwin Bone & Joint is expanding its practice with the addition of Kristy W. Barrentine, a board-certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Barrentine’s clinical focus has been spine treatment, with experience in both neurosurgery and interventional pain management.

Barrentine became a registered nurse in 2004 and earned a Master of Science in nursing in 2009 from the University of South Alabama. She has worked in hospital and outpatient specialty settings in Biloxi, Pascagoula and Ocean Springs, Miss., and moved to the Mobile/Baldwin County area to practice with a private pain management group until most recently.
