MOBILE, Ala. WALA – The Many More Miles Campaign gives new life to old shoes. Will Wiggins with BALDWIN BONE AND JOINT and Genna Vanvarden with City of Hope Church spoke with FOX10’s Lenise Ligon to discuss the community outreach program, who will benefit from the collected shoes and how Baldwin County students can play a part. Community Outreach Campaign to Kickoff January 9
Daphne, Ala. (December 27, 2022) – Local school-age kids, runners and exercise enthusiasts may have put a lot of miles on old running shoes and shoes for all purposes, but when they are donated to the “Many More Miles” campaign, those gently used shoes will come to life again as they land on the feet of someone who really needs them.
For the 19th year, Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C. will host this important community outreach project, and, for the second consecutive year, the local orthopaedic practice will partner with Baldwin County Public Schools and City Hope Church.

BALDWIN BONE & JOINT ANNOUNCES 19TH “MANY MORE MILES” SHOE DRIVE: For the 19th year, Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C. will host its “Many More Miles” campaign and, for the second consecutive year, will partner with Baldwin County Public Schools and City Hope Church. Since its inception, response to the campaign has grown from 200 pairs donated in 2004 to a record-breaking 2,728 pairs contributed most recently.
Shoe donations for 2023 will be accepted starting January 9, 2023, with final shoe drop-offs received at the 2023 Azalea Trail Run on March 25, 2023. Baldwin Bone & Joint will again award cash prizes to Physical Education programs of the top three Baldwin County Public Schools that donate the most shoes. In addition, the class that brings in the most shoes overall will receive a Chick-fil-A party, and the teacher will be awarded a cash prize provided by City Hope Church. Additionally, in partnership with the ongoing community shoe drive, City Hope Church will host “Deliver Hope” on March 12. Congregants are encouraged to donate their gently worn shoes to any of the church’s campuses across the Gulf Coast.

BALDWIN BONE AND JOINT ADDS THERAPIST, EXPANDS SERVICES: Baldwin Bone & Joint is recently announced the addition of Leslie B. Davis, occupational therapist and certified hand therapist, to its hand, elbow and shoulder services team. Davis has over two decades of clinical experience and a specialty in hand therapy and joins Baldwin Bone & Joint and Dr. Allison Hunter, a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon, in treating patients with injuries and conditions from the shoulders to the fingertips.

NEW THERAPIST AT BALDWIN BONE & JOINT: Baldwin Bone & Joint of Daphne recently announced the addition of Leslie B. Davis, occupational therapist and certified hand therapist, to its hand, elbow and shoulder services team. Davis joins Dr. Allison Hunter, fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon, in treating patients with injuries and conditions from the shoulders to the fingertips. Davis holds a BS in occupational therapy rom the University of South Alabama, occupational therapy licenses from Alabama, Florida and the U.S., and has practiced as a certified hand therapist since 2017. She is a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists and is a former communications chairperson of the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association.
