Understanding Chronic Pain: Offering Hope Through Relief and Management Tools
DAPHNE, AL (August 28, 2023) – September is National Pain Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to the millions of Americans suffering from chronic pain. This annual event was first established in 2001 by the American Chronic Pain Association to educate people about the various types of pain and how to manage it. From physical therapy and mindfulness activities to medication and lifestyle changes, there are many ways to help safely reduce pain levels and improve overall functioning.
The public is invited to learn more by attending one of two complimentary lunch and learn events in Baldwin County featuring Dr. Elliott Pennington, fellowship-trained pain management specialist with the Baldwin Bone & Joint orthopaedic team. Dr. Pennington will speak on, “Understanding Chronic Pain – Offering Hope Through Relief and Management Tools.”

“Pain Awareness Month raises awareness for those suffering from chronic pain and offers hope that there are treatments and options available to help manage it safely and effectively. By working collaboratively with the Baldwin Bone & Joint surgical team, we can best optimize pain control during and after surgery, striving for improved patient outcomes and overall satisfaction.
“As a pain management physician, I can offer a range of minimally invasive interventions and non-pharmacologic therapies that can be used as adjuncts to traditional pain management approaches, providing a more comprehensive and personalized approach to patient care,” states Pennington.
