Joy Richardson

Daphne, AL (November 2, 2021) — The physicians and staff of Baldwin Bone & Joint are pleased to announce that Joy Richardson has joined Workers’ Compensation team member, Helen Wright, as co-coordinator.

Richardson has worked in the field of orthopaedic care for 16 years, with 12 of those as a workers’ compensation specialist. She is also a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and has served in numerous administrative roles in the healthcare industry.

“I believe that the variety of experience in my background makes me a perfect fit for this role as co-coordinator with the workers’ compensation services department, as I am familiar with most aspects of a medical practice,” Richardson said. “I am happy to be here at Baldwin Bone & Joint and hope to bring a level of knowledge and efficiency that far exceeds expectation.” (Photo: Joy Richardson)

Richardson adds to the talents of Baldwin Bone & Joint’s existing workers’ compensation team, with fellow co-coordinator Helen Wright, handling new patient information, medical records, appointments and authorizations for surgeries and diagnostic testing.

Early diagnosis and treatment of industrial injuries are the keys to returning an injured worker to the job as soon as possible, thereby reducing both medical costs and time lost from work. Baldwin Bone & Joint’s team of fellowship-trained orthopaedic specialists and workers’ compensation experts endeavors to provide responsive medical treatment to the injured worker, while at the same time keeping the employers and insurance carrier apprised of the patient’s treatment plan, progress and status.

Allison Hunter, MDDr. Allison Hunter Joins Practice as Sole Fellowship-Trained Hand Surgeon Exclusively in Baldwin County

DAPHNE, AL (July 12, 2021) — Baldwin Bone & Joint is proud to announce the addition of Allison Hunter, M.D., who will join the practice this August. A fellowship-trained orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon, Hunter specializes in the treatment of injuries and conditions from the shoulder to the fingertips. She comes to the Baldwin Bone & Joint team of fellowship-trained orthopaedic specialists as the sole hand and upper extremity surgeon whose practice is exclusively in Baldwin County.

Throughout her training, Hunter has worked with patients of all ages, from children to the aging adult, to injured athletes and workers — treating everything from arthritis, tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome to neuropathies, hand, wrist and elbow fractures, and tendon reconstructions.

“My goal is to provide excellent patient care by understanding the problem, reaching the correct diagnosis, and engaging each individual patient in the treatment approach that is right for that person,” Hunter said. “The process is very much a dialogue as we work together to achieve the same goal—getting each patient back to the life and the activities they enjoy.”

A native of Eastern Kentucky, Hunter received her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2015. She completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at UAB and fellowship training at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center at Thomas Jefferson University in Pennsylvania.

“In joining the team, Dr. Hunter’s skills will help further complement Baldwin Bone & Joint’s reputation as a leader in single site comprehensive care, where patients can receive diagnosis, treatment, digital imaging, MRI and physical therapy – all under one roof. As a practice, we look forward to her also working with new patients and building relationships with them and the community,” states Greg Shoemaker, Baldwin Bone & Joint Practice Administrator.

“I truly value the opportunity to develop personal connections with patients and to help improve their lives,” Hunter said. “I’m interested in every patient’s story, and to learn about their specific needs and goals. With this in mind, we can work together to create an individualized treatment approach that best suits each patient’s unique circumstances. Whether it is pain, dysfunction, or disfigurement, I want to understand the problem and together choose the most appropriate, effective solution as a team. I am committed to always providing the excellent care that should be expected by patients in the region while remaining up to date with current techniques.”
