A native of Mobile, Spain is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans. He attended medical school at the University of South Alabama.

A native of Bay Minette, Chastang earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Mississippi College, where he graduated magna cum laude, and a master of science in physician assistant studies from Faulkner University.
